November 2, 1999 Canada's Professor of the Year teaches at Université de Montréal |
Albert Adam, Professor of Clinical Biology at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal, has just been named Professor of the year in Canada (universities) for 1999 by the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) and the CCAE (Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education). He earned the distinction for his outstanding contribution to undergraduate teaching, dedication to his students and innovative teaching methods. He is the first Professor from a francophone university to received this recognition, a prize existing for 10 years. According to Rector Robert Lacroix, the University is very proud of his achievement. Professor Adam teaches clinical biology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and assists with a number of other courses involving interactive teaching methods. Drawing on his experience as a hospital pharmacist in charge of a laboratory in Belgium, he uses an interactive teaching style which, according to his students, has proven very helpful. His method has also inspired other professors. The Professor of the Year Program, administered jointly by the CASE and
the CCAE, pays tribute to undergraduate professors who make a noteworthy
contribution to the lives and careers of their students and render outstanding
service to their teaching institution and profession.
